Introducing our limited edition Guide Dogs Victoria x SisterWorks Treat Bags!

Guide Dogs Victoria reached out to SisterWorks to provide opportunity for our Sisters in Bendigo to make these fantastic Treat Bags. Thank you so much to the Guide Dogs Victoria team for getting SisterWorks involved. Through this project we are able to provide opportunity for 3 of our Bendigo Sisters; May, Thaw Thi Htoo and Kyi Tay.

All three of these women had zero sewing skills prior to their involvement in our 2020 SisterWorks reusable face mask project. With the skills they developed in this project they were able to quickly learn how to make the Treat Bag design, which is a lot more difficult than you would think! We are so proud of how well our Sisters did.

Sister Stories

May is a young single mum and has only been in Bendigo for 3-4 months. The Guide Dogs project has had a huge impact on her confidence. She has stepped up into volunteer roles at the Bendigo Hub when extra help is needed. She has started coming into the Hub every day to help the Sisters, when she usually came in just 1 day a week.

Thaw Thi Htoo had been looking after her sick mum for years. When her mum passed away she started to learn sewing with SisterWorks. She was a recipient of our sew at home kits during lockdown. She loves SisterWorks and has learnt a lot from having the opportunity to practise her English, which she is learning very fast!

Kyi Tay started with SisterWorks, learning crochet and hand sewing. When we began our reusable face mask project she learnt how to machine sew. She loves sewing and is really enjoying the new challenges presented at SisterWorks. She feels grateful to have the chance to work with such amazing resilient women who come have overcome great hardships.

Not only is this purchase supporting our Sisters, but proceeds from the sale of each bag will go towards Guide Dogs Victoria, to continue their work providing services for people with low vision or blindness that enhance freedom and independence.

There are only 50 of these bags! So if you want one of these limited edition Treat Bags shop now.
