Celebrating Diversity Week
SisterWorks is a multicultural hub. We collaborate and work with women from over 55 countries. That’s something worth celebrating. We are also proud to be located in Victoria, one of the most successful multicultural societies in the world, with residents from over 200 countries, speaking over 260 languages, and following 135 different faiths.
Here at SisterWorks, we are committed to building a strong community amongst Australians of every race, faith, and culture. We celebrate diversity every day at SisterWorks, and this week Victoria celebrates with us.
This week is an opportunity to reflect upon the migrant history of our nation. Victoria is a melting pot for diversity, and Melbourne tells a story of migration and settlement. From the vibrant Ethiopian community of Footscray to the Chinese subculture of Preston, every suburb of Melbourne has its own unique multicultural identity that reflects an era of migration and growth.
Cultural Diversity Week is a time to bring together people of all culture, races and religions – to share stories and cultures, and celebrate unity. It is a time to take stock of the progress we have made as a community, but it is also a time to acknowledge the work that is still to be done.
