International Women’s Day

UNW IWD Melbourne 2020

Our inspirational Founder and CEO Luz Restrepo is speaking at the UN Women Australia International Women’s Day (IWD) Breakfasts around Australia.

The 2020 global IWD theme is Generation Equality.

Generation Equality is a call to action to join forces across generations, to create a world where every girl and woman has equal opportunities to fulfil their full potential. Equal access to education and income are central to levelling the playing field for women around the world.

Half a billion of the world’s illiterate adults are women. This trend has not changed in 20 years. UN Women is actively working to change that.

UN Women’s Sonali Hedditch, along with local partners Luz Restrepo, CEO of SisterWorks and Wendy Yarnold, CEO of Real Futures, are participating in a heart warming, thought provoking panel discussion on UN Women’s pioneering Second Chance Education program. The Second Chance Education program is unlocking learning and earning pathways for migrant and refugee women, and Indigenous women in Australia and in six other countries worldwide.

The UN Women’s Second Chance Education and Vocational Learning (SCE) Program, is proudly supported by the BHP Foundation.
