Jill, Malaysia

Jill arrived in Australia from Malaysia for her university studies, eventually working in public hospitals for several years. She took up sketching after being encouraged by a high school teacher, a skill which has helped her improve her coping mechanisms when dealing with the many challenges of her hospital patients.  Jill believes that her art is not only therapeutic, but it allows her to focus on the journey of her life instead of aiming for a destination.

She is a member of the Urban Sketchers Melbourne, which has helped to create a stable community for her in Melbourne.  Jill also joined SisterWorks Hospitality training program in 2022 and is growing her community by applying her new professional skills at SisterWorks Crafted Culture Cafe.  Upon discovering her sketching talent, SisterWorks licensed Jill’s art to create new stationary for our headquarters in Abbotsford and our cafe and shop in Richmond.
