    Sisterworks Inc

    SisterWorks was born 6 years ago with humble beginnings. Our founder Luz Restrepo arrived in Australia in 2010 seeking political asylum. Her life was in tatters and she spoke no English. She felt like a nobody: frightened 😣, isolated and disempowered. Luz soon discovered that she was not alone. In 2011, along with a group of 25 women 💃 experiencing similar challenges, Luz began to make and sell crafts around Melbourne. She understood that to support 💪 each other is also to strengthen each other. An entrepreneurial visionary, Luz seized the passion and drive of the women around her and established SisterWorks Inc. in May 2013.

    Since its opening SisterWorks has nurtured and empowered over 492 women from 56 countries. Our Swan Street Richmond home 🏠 has sheltered our sisters for 4 years. It is now time for us to grow and we need support from those who believe in our future.

    Your money will go towards a crowdfunding campaign to renovate 🛠️ our new home, furnishing and providing facilities to cultivate 🌱 a safe and inspiring environment for our sisters to achieve their professional dreams.

    We are over the moon 🌙💃 with this new possibility of having a bigger space and better facilities. We have outgrown our current home on Swan St and are relocating to a larger space around the corner on Bridge Rd in Richmond. There are lots of costs involved with the move including renovating the new space, removals, fixing windows and painting. Yesterday we met again after five years without seeing each other. Immediately we have big smiles and melted hearts when we recognise each other.
