1.1 e-Commerce Privacy Policy

SisterWorks recognises the importance of protecting the privacy and the rights of individuals in relation to their personal information. This document is our privacy policy and it tells you how we collect and manage your personal information.

We respect your rights to privacy under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic) and we comply with all of the Acts and Victorian State requirements in regard to the collection, management and disclosure of your personal information.

SECTION 1 - WHAT IS PERSONAL & SENSITIVE  INFORMATION?

Broadly, personal information is any information that can be used to identify you. This may include your name, address, telephone number, email address, profession or occupation. If the information we collect personally identifies you or you are reasonably identifiable from it, the information will be considered personal information.

Some personal information is deemed sensitive under the Privacy Act and may include racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions, criminal records, for example.

SECTION 2 – WHAT PERSONAL & SENSITIVE INFORMATION DOES SISTERWORKS COLLECT?

When you purchase something from our store, as part of the buying and selling process, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address.  When you browse our store, we also automatically receive your computer’s internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn about your browser and operating system.  With your permission, we may send you emails about our store, new products and other updates. You can opt out of receiving these emails by using the unsubscribe button.

We also collect personal information about individuals who interact with SisterWorks in ways other than the store. This includes our Sisters, supporters, volunteers, donors, employees, contractors, job applicants and other people with whom SisterWorks or a third party has contact with.

The type of information we collect and hold varies depending on the purpose for which it is collected. We may collect the following types of personal information from you as a supporter, donor, philanthropic trust, employee, volunteer and client of our services: name, residential or mailing address, email address, telephone number (including emergency contact information), age and/or date of birth, employer, occupation, personal information related to employment rights such a visa status, and any information we deem necessary to deliver our services.

In any event we will only collect sensitive information directly from you and with your consent, or as otherwise authorised by law.

SECTION 3 – HOW DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION?

We collect personal information you provide to us directly, for example, in person, over the phone, by email, via our website or by completing any of our online or hard copy forms, applications or surveys.

We may also collect or update your personal information through the use of commercial service providers who, for example, might conduct fundraising activities on our behalf or commercial providers for contact address validation and updates.

We may also collect your personal information from publicly available sources or third parties (including social media and via the use of cookies on our website). We will only collect personal information by lawful and fair means, and when possible we will collect personal information from you directly.

If it is not reasonable or practicable to collect it directly from you, we will take (reasonable) steps to make you aware that your information has been collected.

SECTION 4 – WHAT DO WE DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION?

SECTION 5 – CONSENT

How do you get my consent?

When you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like fundraising, marketing, or to sign up to one of our programs, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

How do I withdraw my consent?

SECTION 6 – THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.

In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located in a different jurisdiction than either you or us. So if you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

As an example, if you are located in Australia and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act. Once you leave our store’s website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.

When you click on links on our store, they may direct you away from our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.

SECTION 7 – SECURITY

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

When you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption. Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

SECTION 8 – COOKIES

Here is a list of cookies that we use. We’ve listed them here so that you can choose if you want to opt-out of cookies or not:

sessionid, unique token, sessional will allow us to store information about your session (referrer, landing page, etc) cart, unique token,If persistent for 2 weeks. It stores information about the contents of your cart.

securesession_id, unique token, sessional  storefront_digest, unique token, indefinite If the shop has a password, this is used to determine if the current visitor has access.

We may collect and store your computer’s assigned IP address, the date and time of your visit, the information accessed and the referring page when you access the SIsterWorks website.  We will also collect other non-identifying data for statistical purposes. This information is not linked to your personal information unless required by law.

Our website may, from time to time, use cookies, tracking pixels and related technologies. Cookies are small data files that are served by our platform and stored on your device. We use cookies dropped by us or third parties for a variety of purposes including to operate and personalise the website.They may also be used to track how you use the site to target ads to you on other websites.

Cookies may also be used to record non-personal information such as the date, time or duration of your visit, or the pages accessed, for website administration, statistical and maintenance purposes. Any such information will be aggregated and not linked to particular individuals unless required by law.  You have the ability to accept or decline cookies by modifying the settings in your browser.  Please note that some parts of the website may not function fully for users that disallow cookies.

SECTION 9 - HOW DOES SISTERWORKS PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL & SENSITIVE INFORMATION?

We take reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is protected from unauthorised access, misuse, loss, modification, or disclosure.   We may hold your information in either electronic or hard copy form.   Personal information is destroyed or de-identified when no longer needed.

When required by law or to deliver our core services we may collect sensitive information. Sensitive information is subject to a higher level of privacy protection than other ‘personal information’.   We will collect sensitive information only as required and only with consent, except in specified circumstances.

SisterWorks will not sell or share your personal or sensitive information with any other organisation for commercial purposes.

SECTION 10 – AGE OF CONSENT

By using this site, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your state or province of residence, or that you are the age of majority in your state or province of residence and you have given us your consent to allow any of your minor dependents to use this site.

SECTION 11 – CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.

If our store is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owners so that we may continue to sell products to you.
