Baishakhi Connor (She/Her), Australia

Baishakhi started her journey in small-town India, where she dreamed big despite the economic and social barriers around her. Through education and determination, she built a successful career that spanned four continents.  Yet, migrating to Australia in 2009, Baishakhi faced the familiar challenges of many migrants - rebuilding her career in a new country, navigating different systems, and finding her place in a new society. She eventually carved out leadership roles in corporate Australia, working across strategy, transformation, and commercial leadership, scaling teams, and driving major business turnarounds. Today, she is a senior corporate executive, a board director, a LinkedIn publisher with over 28,000 followers, and an advocate for diverse and inclusive workplaces. She also mentors professionals navigating career transitions and regularly speaks on leadership, resilience, and inclusion.  Baishakhi is deeply committed to supporting migrants, particularly women, in finding their economic footing in Australia. As a board member at SisterWorks, she brings her lived experience and professional expertise to help drive strategic initiatives that empower women through entrepreneurship and employment pathways.  Beyond her corporate and board roles, Baishakhi lives in a tri-cultural, tri-religious family with her Australian Catholic husband and Afghan Muslim foster daughters. As a foster mum, stepmum, and step-grandmother, she understands the richness and complexity of cross-cultural belonging.

“SisterWorks' mission resonates deeply with me because I know firsthand the resilience it takes to rebuild in a new country. Supporting migrant women in their journey towards economic empowerment is not just important work—it is personal.”
