Gloria Isabel Arellano (She/Her), Colombia
Gloria was born in Colombia and came to Australia in 2006 as an international student, originally intending to learn English in order to access higher-level professional opportunities back home. She completed her English language studies at La Trobe University, where she developed a deep appreciation for Australian culture—a connection that ultimately shaped her decision to build her future in Australia.
Gloria holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Colombia and completed her Master of Human Resources at Swinburne University in Australia. Over nearly 20 years in Australia, she has worked for large organisations that have not only supported her professional development, but also helped her feel truly part of the country and its workplace culture. Each role has strengthened her resilience, commitment, and passion for delivering value, building strong relationships, and supporting others.
As a migrant, Gloria understands firsthand how challenging it can be to begin a new professional life in a new country, particularly in a different language. She has always had clear goals and a strong sense of direction. Throughout her journey, she took on roles she never imagined she would do, and through those experiences discovered another version of herself—one capable of reinventing, adapting, and growing, while continuing to draw on the skills and experience from her professional life in Colombia.
Today, Gloria is driven by a strong desire to support other women as they build their professional lives in Australia. She is passionate about helping women create their own pathways, develop confidence, and write new chapters in their lives. Gloria firmly believes that in Australia, what happens is what we allow ourselves to make happen—and that with belief, action, and openness to opportunity, this country offers real possibilities for growth, inclusion, and success.
Joining SisterWorks has allowed me to support and connect with sisters who are looking to create a new chapter in their lives. Through this work, I am able to walk alongside women as they build confidence, develop skills, and shape meaningful pathways toward economic independence and belonging.
