Operations and Admin Support Officer
Alexandra Weerasinghe (They/Them), Sri Lanka
Alexandra joined SisterWorks in July 2026 as the operations and admin support officer, based in the Springvale hub. She has previously worked in construction and manufacturing industries, and has extensive experience in streamlining business and production processes, logistics coordination and customer service. Having completed a work placement in ethical business practices in the trade and logistics industry, Alexandra has a keen interest in sustainability in production and manufacturing.
Alexandra moved to Melbourne in late 2018 to pursue a master’s degree in business analytics. Having found herself in the middle of a global pandemic during her early years in Australia and struggling to find sustainable employment, Alexandra personally relates to SisterWorks’ mission of supporting immigrant, refugee and asylum seeker women through financial independence. Alexandra believes that, through the right guidance and support, migrant women can successfully face challenges associated with launching a career or a business in Australia.
Apart from her professional life, Alexandra volunteers her time as a peer mentor for LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees, providing one-on-one emotional support, and referrals for various affirming services. Alexandra considers it a privilege to be part of the SisterWorks family, and looks forward to creating opportunities for women to thrive.
“Being part of an organisation that empowers women to follow their passions and build a fulfilling life for themselves is its own reward. I find inspiration in seeing the strength and resilience of the sisters we support, and share their joy in their accomplishments.”
