Michelle James (She/Her), Malaysia

Michelle was born in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia and her family migrated to Australia.  She came to Australia with her family as a result of the desire to take advantage of further educational opportunities and employment, and, for a better life.

Despite the initial cultural and self-identity challenges, Michelle saw professional and personal development as key to assimilating and furthering her opportunity in a new country. To this day, this is still her mantra,

With over 30 years’ experience developing her skills in business development, stakeholder management and corporate partnerships, Michelle has applied this to great benefit across a wide range of industry sectors.

Michelle is a former Director and Committee Member at the Pinewood Financial Services Limited, Notting Hill Neighbourhood House and Friends of the Children Foundation Inc. She was awarded the 2020 Sir John Monash Award, “Inspirational Women’s Leadership,” for her volunteer work. Michelle is a qualified Trainer & Assessor and holds a Graduate Diploma in Marketing.

SisterWorks has given Michelle the opportunity to pursue her passion in helping our Sisters through their job search challenges, and her passion in connecting people from all walks of life.

During her free time family and cooking are her passion. Networking is an important part of Michelle’s professional and personal life and ‌you will see Michelle at many events, connecting with people to better understand their needs and how she can support them.

“SisterWorks allows me to connect with our wonderful community and make a tangible difference with each engagement I encounter”
