Community@3.0 Supervisor
Dinithi Ishara (She/Her), Sri Lanka
Dinithi is the Supervisor of the Community@SisterWorks 3.0 program. In this role, she mentors and teaches women from diverse backgrounds practical skills such as sewing, craft, jewelry-making, candle-making, and greeting card design. She also provides them with business knowledge, preparing them to confidently run market stalls and small businesses by the end of the program.
Dinithi holds a teaching diploma and has experience teaching in Sri Lanka. She also worked as an export coordinator at a leading Sri Lankan shipping line, gaining valuable customer service expertise. After moving to Australia, she founded her small business specializing in handmade paper-quilled jewelry and greeting cards, gaining experience through pop-up markets and learning the ins and outs of selling and customer engagement. Dinithi joined SisterWorks in mid-2018 after being referred by Dandenong Council. While selling her products at SisterWorks, she had the opportunity to conduct several workshops to teach her skills and product knowledge. These experiences deepened her connection with the SisterWorks community.
As a migrant and full-time mom of two, SisterWorks became her second home, offering a welcoming and inclusive environment. With her teaching background and entrepreneurial spirit, Dinithi transformed her hobby into a thriving small business.
“SisterWorks is my safe haven—a place where women from all backgrounds are welcomed without judgment. I’m inspired every day to give back to the community that helped me grow into who I am today.”
