Accounting Assistant

Yuliasari Tjokroaminata (She/Her), Indonesia

Yulia came from Indonesia 10 years ago with her young daughter. She has a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and extensive work experience in Indonesia, although she did not work for some time after having her daughter. Now that her daughter has grown up, she started looking for work.

She tried multiple times to apply for work but all the prospective employers demanded current experience or at least an Accounting Degree from an Australian Institution.

One day she read about SisterWorks through an online group she joined. It was posted by a SisterWorks’s volunteer, who encouraged Yulia to send through her CV.

She secured the position of Accounting Assistant, where her main responsibility is maintaining the accounts payable, she is taking on new opportunities all the time and is a valued member of the team. She is very grateful for the support she has received from the team at SisterWorks.

She feels she is a living example of how SisterWorks delivers on its mission to support women who are refugees, asylum seekers or migrants to improve their confidence, mental well-being, sense of belonging and economic outlook.

“I am so pleased to work with an organisation whose mission is to help people like me. There are a lot of chances to learn professional and personal skills in a supportive environment. Our team and managers are very supportive and they provide flexible working options which I really value.”
