A transformative year for SisterWorks, marked by the launch of our Springvale Manufacturing Hub, empowering 292 Sisters with job skills, and expanding impact through partnerships with Yarra Trams, Amazon, and more.

Expanding Our Impact: The Springvale Manufacturing Hub

In June 2024, SisterWorks marked a significant milestone with the opening of our new Springvale Manufacturing Hub. This state-of-the-art facility, nearly three times larger than our previous space, has doubled our manufacturing capacity. Supported by key partners such as Toyota, this hub not only enhances our production capabilities but also integrates sustainable practices, providing meaningful employment opportunities for migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeker women.

Empowering Women Through Employment Pathways

This year, 292 Sisters graduated from our Employment Pathways Programs, with 170 securing employment, launching businesses, or joining SisterWorks as employees. Our programs have collectively contributed over $3 million in economic value to the community. With industry-specific training in sectors such as hospitality, customer service, and warehousing, our Sisters continue to build their skills, confidence, and economic independence.

Celebrating International Women’s Day

On March 8, 2024, we proudly hosted our International Women’s Day Breakfast, sponsored by Keolis Downer. This inspiring event brought together supporters, partners, and Sisters to celebrate women's achievements and discuss the ongoing challenges they face. Stories of resilience and empowerment took center stage, reflecting our commitment to gender equality and economic empowerment.

Yarra Trams Partnership: A Model of Social Impact

Our partnership with Yarra Trams flourished this year, delivering 833 hours of employment for priority jobseekers and generating an annual social and economic impact of $125,000. By repurposing textile waste and creating bespoke tram components, we diverted over four tonnes of waste from landfills, earning the Social Procurement Impact Partnership of the Year award.

Sustainable Growth Through Strategic Partnerships

SisterWorks has continued to forge impactful partnerships with a diverse range of organisations, including L’Oréal, Amazon, and Australian Venue Co. These collaborations have expanded our Sisters’ employment opportunities, supported our training programs, and enhanced our commitment to sustainability.
