What began as a creative collaboration has grown into a lasting partnership rooted in shared values: craftsmanship, community, and empowerment.

The partnership between Melbourne-based accessories brand simétrie and SisterWorks began in 2020 with the launch of the Sisterly Collection, a limited-edition series of linen canvas totes and zip pouches designed to celebrate sisterhood and the strength of women. The collection featured artwork by illustrator Bianca Balliro, printed with earth-friendly dyes by Owen and Gioia of OPM Design. Although Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions paused production at SisterWorks, simétrie founder Simone Agius honoured the collaboration by producing a small run in her atelier and donating 10% of sales back to SisterWorks to support future production and ongoing collaboration.

This marked the beginning of a relationship built on aligned values of ethical production, sustainability, and women-led creativity.

Since then, the collaboration has evolved into an ongoing manufacturing partnership. Today, SisterWorks artisans handcraft simétrie’s organic cotton dust bags, providing sustainable packaging to protect and elevate simétrie’s leather accessories. Each bag is carefully made by women from refugee and migrant backgrounds, creating both high-quality outcomes for simétrie and meaningful employment opportunities for SisterWorks artisans.

It has provided tangible employment opportunities, celebrated the power of women-led creativity, and demonstrated that business can be both beautiful and socially responsible.

As Simone from simétrie shared:

“simétrie and SisterWorks work under the same base concept—made with love in Melbourne.”

The Sisterly Collection may now be sold out, but the impact continues with every handcrafted dust bag, every skill gained, and every opportunity created through collaboration.
