Farhaneh’s Artistic Journey with SisterWorks
Ever felt lost in a new place, having a dream to build a business but unsure how to start? Meet Farhaneh Behravan, who turned uncertainty into opportunity.
In 2022, Farhaneh bravely left Iran for Australia in search of a brighter future. Her journey is a testament to her resilience, creativity and entrepreneurial spirits. Little did she know that her path would lead her to SisterWorks, an organisation that provides her as a supportive group.
Discovering SisterWorks
How Farhaneh found SisterWorks was a moment of serendipity. At one of the events in Melbourne, polytechnic, she met Bethany, a SisterWorks program manager. Realising there is potential growth and support, she quickly registered for the Small Business Program to help her achieve her dream.
The SisterWorks Experience: More Than Just a Course
For Farhaneh, SisterWorks became her turning point to get more knowledge and increase confidence. The Small Business Program provided her valuable insight into marketing, business ideas and funding opportunities. The benefit of joining this program extended far beyond just business acumen, as it also provided something priceless: connection.
Here, Farhaneh found a vibrant network of like-minded women, sharing experience and inspiring each other. Additionally, the program offered a pathway to one-on-one mentoring and six months of mentorship.
Turning passion into Business
With the knowledge and confidence gained from SisterWorks, Farhaneh recently launched her own business, Queen Koala Shop, where she teaches paper painting through an art program. This venture allows her to share her passion, achieve financial independence, and gain valuable entrepreneurial experience. Farhaneh also dreams of expanding Queen Koala Shop to other suburbs.
For Farhaneh, joining SisterWorks was more than just attending classes. It was about discovering her potential, building her confidence, and preparing for the future she envisioned.
The SisterWorks Impact
Farhaneh’s experience with SisterWorks has been truly transformative. For women entrepreneurs, forging connections is crucial to gaining access to powerful networks traditionally dominated by men. As Farhaneh reflects, “Being part of the SisterWorks program has been enlightening for me. I had the incredible opportunity to connect with fellow participants. These connections have blossomed into a supportive network.”
Looking to the future
Farhaneh’s story is a testament to the power of community support, personal determination, and the transformative impact of organisations dedicated to empowering immigrant women. Her journey highlights the unique challenges faced by women stepping into entrepreneurship from migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeker backgrounds. Thus, having the right support place to bloom is important since it can lead to beautiful success stories.
